# How to: create and customize your avatar

Here's how to create your digital alter ego in Coderblock. Once you've logged in for the first time, you can start creating your avatar. You can create your character manually or use one of RPM's special features: the ability to upload a selfie and create an avatar that looks just like you!

If you want to use **your photo** to create your avatar, simply click on 'Take a photo' or 'Choose file' and upload your photo. Your virtual alter ego will be created in moments, and you'll be amazed at how much it looks like you!\

Now it's time to choose your favourite outfit: you can customise facial details, hats, shoes, glasses, trousers, shirts, make-up and more.

You can also choose from pre-loaded outfits (including **branded Coderblock outfits** - have you tried them?), ranging from an angel to a motorcyclist, a pink teddy bear to a futuristic archer, a suit and tie to a Christmas jumper, and everything in between. With so many fantasy characters to choose from, the only limit is your imagination!

Once you've chosen the look that best reflects you, you can create an account on Ready Player Me. This way, you can use the avatar you've just created not only in Coderblock, but on all platforms that integrate RPM!

Now you can access Coderblock as explained [HERE](https://docs-en.coderblock.com/coderblock-world/platform-access/open-world-and-spaces), and once inside you'll always have the option to customize the appearance of your avatar using the '**Customize**' button in the [Dashboard](https://docs-en.coderblock.com/coderblock-world/user-experiences/menu).

You can always undo your changes and return to the Dashboard by clicking '*Hide*' at the bottom centre of the screen.
